Turkish property sales to foreigners increased by 81% in 2018!

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute the number of residential properties sold to foreigners in 2018 has increased by 81% compared to 2017. The news has pleased the Turkish real estate industry experiencing a slow down in the domestic demand. According to Mr. Levent Kineşci, president & CEO of ETU Homes, one of the main reasons to the rise is the already attractive prices supported by a general discount campaign the industry initiated all over Turkey during the second half of 2018.

Turkish citizenship rights to foreigners who acquire 250.000 USD of residential property in Turkey!

The financial and investment criteria that foreigners have to meet to obtain Turkish citizenship have been reduced.

Some regulations related to foreigners' acquisition of Turkish citizenship have been changed . To qualify for the citizenship of the Republic of Turkey prescribed amount of fixed capital is lowered from $ 2.000.000 to $ 500.000. The minimum amount for acquisition of real estate in Turkey required for foreigners to acquire Turkish citizenship is also reduced from 1.000.000 USD to 250.000 USD.

According to the information received today from the municipality of Alanya, the annual tax for owners of residential property is being increased since March up to 110%. The tax is calculated according to cadastral value of the property. It means that if last year you paid for the apartment, for example, 100 TL, in 2015 you have to pay 210 TL.
